2012 East of Scotland Beef Sausage Champions

2005 Scottish Haggis Champion

2005 Scottish Pork Sausage Champion

In 1960 Jim Pirie opened a butchers shop in the Angus village of Newtyle. Five years later, his son Alan joined him in the business. They have always maintained their reputation for handling quality produce and customers come from far and wide to purchase from a wonderful array of meat products enhanced by a hand-picked delicatessen range.

In 1996 Jim and Alan decided that "innovation" was the only way forward for butchers to survive in the changing market place. They created a new lamb sausage seasoned with apple mint and rosemary which was a huge success with customers and won them the 1996 Scottish Meat Award. Many more awards followed and in 1997 the firm was awarded the Scottish Enterprise Tayside - Innovation Prize for the Best Small Business.

Pride of place amongst all the 140 awards they now hold are the 2005 Scottish Haggis Champion and the 2005 Scottish Pork Sausage Champion - a unique double achievement for a Scottish butcher.

The firm now boasts 38 different varieties of sausages and burgers from traditional pork and beef to pork and caramelised red onion to gluten free varieties. We are proud to support Scottish farmers - all our meat has full traceability back to Scottish farms. One of our most popular products is dry cured bacon which is cured in Newtyle using local pork.

Come and visit us in Newtyle and see our exciting range of traditional and unusual products for all the family - we will be pleased to "meat" you!
