The 2010 Scottish Black Pudding Champion was crowned on Tuesday 3rd August when Jim Mitchell from Dalziel Ltd
visited Fraser Brothers in Dingwall to present them with their trophy.
Shop Manager, Graham
Mowat was delighted to hear of the success.
He said
“I am well chuffed
that's brilliant news. Since we were awarded the North of Scotland title in
Elgin
in May, sales of black pudding have steadily picked up but to be Scottish
Champions will be a major boost. Now
there are even more reasons for tourists to come into Dingwall.”
Not
surprisingly Graham would not divulge what made his product stand out from all
the rest merely adding:-
“Our
recipe has been perfected over the years to meet our customers' tastes.
They appreciate our black pudding and I hope that others with come and
savour what is now officially the best.”

This
competition organised by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders asttracted
almost 100 entries. It was judged
regionally in May of this year with the Regional winner and runner up from each
of the five heats both going through to the Scottish Final that was judged at
the
Braehead
Cook
School
.
The ten finalists in
each competition were visited in July. Their
products were purchased by mystery shoppers and taken to the
Braehead
Cook
School
at
Kilmarnock
. Steve Doherty from the Braehead
had the impressive
Cook
School
facilities ready for Kevin MacGillvray from the Scottish Chefs Federation to
organise the final cook off.
The judges for the
final were Kevin MacGillvray (Marine Hotel, Troon), Duncan McKay (Western House
Hotel, Ayr), Andrea Christie (wife of SFMTA President Stuart), Steve Doherty (Braehead
Cook School) and
Moira Stalker
from Scotland Food and Drink Federation.
