Ayrshire Butchers Campaign

When Ayrshire Master Butchers Association concluded that the Federation provided all the service and representation that they required, they decided that they no longer required a local association. The funds that had been lying dormant in a bank account were forwarded by Mr WAF Hastie their last Secretary to the Federation.

Following consultation with Ayrshire butchers at the Regional Meeting in Kilmarnock on 26th January 2009, it was decided to spend the residual Ayrshire funds, some £5136, to promote members in Ayrshire.

Various forms of advertising were discussed. Members ruled out West Sound and plumped for a full page feature in the Ayrshire Post, Kilmarnock Standard and Irvine Herald. That will be published on Wednesday 11th March in the lead up to National Butchers Week and this used £3000 + VAT. The remainder of the funds for bus rears as below starting in National Butchers Week. Cost of this is 17 x Bus rears (4 weeks activity – £120 rate= £2,040.00. Design and artwork consumes the rest of the funds.

Visitors to www.craftbutchers.co.uk will be closely monitored to see if there is an increase in visitors and members are requested to let us know if they think the promotion made an impact.
