Bluetongue 6 in Holland

A ban on exports from the Netherlands has been put in place by the Dutch authorities, and a full veterinary inquiry is under way to consider the likely origin and the mechanism of transfer to the Netherlands. The situation will be discussed tomorrow at Scofcah and we are working with other UK Governments to ensure a robust approach is taken.

This development is of particular concern as this serotype has not been reported in Europe before. We ask you to continue to remind your members to take care in sourcing of stock and avoiding high risk areas. Within the UK we continue to test all consignments of stock from continental Europe post-import.
