A D Paton Butchers and Licensed Game Dealers of Largs - a family owned business was formed in 1840, has continually traded in various locations in the town for 169 years and is now run under the stewardship of Scott Paton, the 5th generation to run the business with a staff of five to assist.
Paton Butchers of Largs has a very proud history and the company is one of the oldest butchers in Scotland and amongst the very oldest in continious ownership of the same family.
Fresh meat and goods produced and prepared on the premises is what they are best known for. Various types of: Pies, sausages, black, white and fruit puddings, cold meats and of course their trademark "freshly-shot haggis", form part of growing list of "own produce" items.
They also stock a range of game produce, such as wild Scottish venison, guinea fowl and quail and an extensive range of game birds, such as duck, pheasant, guinea fowl, quail and wood pigeon again all prepared on the premises. Full provenance on all these items of produce is known to Patons. They also stock exotic meats such as kangaroo, ostrich and crocodile.
