Condolence Notice

The Scottish Craft Butchers Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing this week of two highly respected figures in our Association.

We mourn the loss of John Chapman OBE, Past President of the Scottish Craft Butchers (1981/82), whose leadership, commitment, and lifelong service to the craft left a lasting legacy. John’s contribution to the Association and to the wider Scottish food industry will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.

We are also deeply saddened by the passing of Arthur Matthew, Honorary President, whose dedication, wisdom, and unwavering support for the Association over many years helped shape the values and strength of Scottish Craft Butchery. Arthur was held in the highest regard by colleagues and friends alike.

On behalf of the Board, members, and staff of the Scottish Craft Butchers Association, we extend our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of John and Arthur at this very difficult time. They will both be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
