This new legislation represents one of the biggest changes to consumer law in decades and will benefit honest businesses by simplifying consumer protection legislation and clamping down on those that are using underhand sales and marketing practices to gain an unfair competitive advantage. This will help to create a level playing field for the vast majority of businesses that do treat their customers honestly and fairly.
You will be breaking this law if you're not who you say you are displaying a trust mark, quality mark or equivalent without having obtained the necessary authorisation. This includes winners of meat product awards making out that they are current champions while the truth may be decade or two back!
