Control Measures to protect OTF Status

Simon Hall, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) for Scotland, outlined the Implementation Plan Proposals and invited comments.

The proposed control measures were welcomed across the Stakeholder group, who were in agreement that the planned arrangements were essential to protect Scotland's OFT status. All sectors of the Industry commended the approach that was outlined for implementation and it was acknowledged that the new proposals addressed the concerns previously raised.

The Scottish Government and stakeholders agreed on the importance of clear communication materials and that these be produced collaboratively where possible. It was acknowledged the material must include practical guidance on control measures and changes required in light of the new arrangements.

It is expected that this material will be distributed early next year in advance of the implementation of the control measures.
