Showing customers it's safe to shop!
As a professional business operator, you need to be aware of what is happening around the world and show your customers that you are being responsible and committed to best practice.
Butchers have customers through their shops every day and need to focus on looking after these customers while keeping yourselves and your staff safe and healthy.
It's important to look at your business from the other side of the counter.
When possible, wash your hands between serving customers and/or change your gloves, particularly when you are handling money.
It would be best practice, especially from a shopper's point of view, to ensure that you wear disposable gloves when serving or at least invert the plastic bags when serving.
Make sure you and your staff are wearing clean uniforms (aprons and shirts) and change them daily or when they become soiled.
Keep visible work areas clean and tidy, focus on rubbish levels, display cases, dry agers and fridges, even the use of sanitisers will demonstrate you are trying to avoid any issues.
Online Orders
You may notice more customers may want to order online and use your home delivery service.
Make sure you communicate this via your social media channels and website that these options are available, emphasis on the fact that the meat is “cut fresh” to your requirements and “packaged in your shops” in a controlled environment.
It might be time to canvass any retirement communities in your areas and let them know that you have a delivery service available and make up an order form do not forget to include any condiments or frozen meals/foods you have available.
