Working safely during COVID-19 in shops and branches.
Please refer to the attached document.
With the recent changes from Government businesses will need to implement a policies and procedures in line with Government guidance for Staff working safely at work.
This guidance follows the 5 steps :
FIVE STEPS TO SAFER WORKING TOGETHER
– We have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and shared the results with the people who work here –
– We have cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures in line with guidance
– We have taken all reasonable steps to help people work from home
– We have taken all reasonable steps to maintain a 2m distance in the workplace
– Where people cannot be 2m apart, we have done everything practical to manage transmission risk
We have attached a Generic Risk Assessment which should be reviewed and tailored in line with the Policy for your business by the Lead Health & Safety person for your business in conjunction with the Manager and staff.
We have also attached an example risk assessment for guidance.
Once the Risk Assessment is agreed, the on site staff should be briefed on the risk assessment and the associated procedure.
The Poster (Attached), signed by the owner/manager for the business, must be put up with copies of the policy and Risk Assessment on Employee noticeboards and at the entrance to the site.
Bear in mind that you need to address the following and bespoke to your business if applicable>
1 possible staggering of start finish times to avoid queues
2. Hand washing facility at site entrance and throughout the site
3. If possible working 2 metres apart
4. supply of suitable PPE – masks, gloves, face shields etc.
5. Regular staggered breaks for rest etc
6. possible one way traffic system for walking around site
7 transport to site, ensure vehicles are not over crowded – follow Government guidance
This document is to help employers, employees and the self- employed in the UK understand how to work safely during the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping as many people as possible 2 metres apart from those they do not live with. We hope it gives you freedom within a practical framework to think about what you need to do to continue, or restart, operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This document is issued by the UK government and some of it may not be applicable in Scotland currently, however it is a good guide to refer to when lockdown is eventually eased here.
The Scottish Craft Butchers office in Perth is now closed following government guidelines.
