CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 2ND OCTOBER 2020

Key Worker Letter

We have issued a printed copy of the key worker status letter with this month's newsletter. This is just in case a “circuit break” lockdown is announced for the October holidays.
We understand that the First Minister has not ruled this out.
Depending on the numbers of covid positive tests that are reported in the next couple of weeks it may well be prudent to have copies of the Key worker status letter for your staff to carry in this eventuality.
Attached to this e-mail is a digital copy which you can either fill in on your PC and print out or print out and fill in by hand.
We hope it is not needed but we are better to be prepared.

Temperature testing of Employees

The Scottish Government have updated the temperature guidance to include reference to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency advice regarding the reliability of temperature checking as a test for Covid.
This has now been included in the general guidance below.

Operational Guidance and Checklist Link

They do not recommend the use of temperature checking employees as a means of testing for COVID-19 due to the low efficacy rate of this method.

Further information about the reliability of temperature checking as a test for COVID-19 can be found on the MHRA website:

This is an interesting development which raises more questions than answers. We will update you on this as soon as we get it.

Contact tracing app downloaded by 1.3 million

The Protect Scotland app has been downloaded by 1.3 million people.
In the past three weeks more than a third of the people who have tested positive have been App users, the first minister says.
During that time more than 2,000 contacts have been advised to self-isolate through the app.
The links to download it onto your phone and an explanation of how it works (including issue of privacy and data management) are all available here.
It takes roughly two minutes to set up on your phone.
