From my experience of the reformulation programme and recent contacts with various small businesses there is still a need to provide hands-on support for both reformulation and process improvements that improve quality and consistency.
Ingredient companies could and do provide this support to major food manufacturers where the sales value is greatest but are unlikely to do this for small players.
Ingredient manufacturers will help where it results in additional sales of their products. They will not willingly suggest initiatives that will result in loss of taste which could turn into lost sales and ultimately the salesperson the loss of their job.
I am unwilling to go into a tendering process for each project against other individuals or institutions. However, I know I am the person that can make a real difference as I did it before. I know it is not being modest but I justify this claim in that I have not seen anyone do as much as what I achieved with the reformulation programme with similar projects over that same time period.
