Credit Card Deal for Members

We would like to advise you that Bank of Scotland Merchant Services is to be renamed First Data Merchant Solutions from 1st March 2011.

First Data have provided this service in conjunction with the Bank of Scotland since 2003 and this change in name is designed to better reflect the management of this business by First Data. It is also the first step in a longer-term plan to deliver enhanced value and solutions to our merchant customer base in the UK. As we progress this development process and look to utilise First Data's broader skills, experience and product sets to refine our merchant propositions, we will work with you to make these new offers available to your member base.

In the meantime we will transition all our sales and marketing collateral to the new brand design. In due course we will send you the First Data mark and new brand design guidelines so you may continue to use our branding where appropriate. Regarding PCIDSS issues I would like to say that, I have done my best and once I was aware of the issues after our meeting in early November we both worked to resolve the existing merchants who were still not compliant. I assisted at least 3 members becoming compliant two after the regional meetings and another in July after you gave out my details. Like you I have spend hours assisting and attending the dinners.

I also managed to protect the members from price increases due to interchange rates increasing too. Most of the other providers have all increased prices over the last 18 months with both Streamline and HSBC increasing prices recently. We were one of the first to roll out PCIDSS and create a platform for merchants to become compliant, we receive very few complaints now from merchants about PCIDSS because it has become the norm.
