Fire at Campbells Prime Meat

Fire at Campbells Meat Factory at East Mains Industrial Site in Broxburn, West Lothian

More than 50 firefighters have managed to bring the blaze at Campbell Meats Factory in Broxburn under control. But they said the fire was so extensive they were still trying to save the East Mains Industrial Estate warehouse.

People were working in the factory when the fire broke out at about 0230 BST but no-one was injured.

An airport spokesman said the fire was having no impact on flights.

The cause of the fire was not initially apparent. A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “Damage to the building is estimated to be in the region of £2m.
“Investigations continue as to the cause of the fire but at present there are no suspicious circumstances.”
