From April 2009 trainees registered on a funded SVQ qualification receive free Level 2 Foundation HACCP certification. The charge for a candidate, but non-trainee, from a business in membership of SFMTA is £45. Non-members – non-trainee – are charged £60.
Who is this course intended for?
All those involved in the food industry. It serves as a good grounding for those going on to sit Intermediate HACCP.
Aim
To ensure that candidates will have knowledge of the concept of HACCP and an understanding of the ability to apply HACCP principles practically in food and food related businesses in order to ensure effective food safety.

How long will the course take?
All learning is undertaken within the candidate's own workplace. This dispels with the need to be away from work to attend a group course.
The learning literature is user friendly and easily followed. The Handbook issued, to each candidate, must be fully read. When competent of their knowledge candidates should apply for the exam to this office.
It will be very useful to have in the workplace for revision as it may form part of a “due diligence” defence, to demonstrate that the employee is receiving appropriate training in food hygiene prior to the exam.
Assessment
The candidate is assessed by a 30-minute examination consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions.
Qualification
Successful candidates are awarded the Foundation Certificate Level 2 in HACCP from The Royal Society for Public Health
