Guidance on how to safely accept reusable plastic containers in a Butchers shop

This document, which you can display in your premises, is designed to help you inform the customer of when it may not be possible to accept their containers.
The document has been agreed with Local EHO officers in Perth & Kinross and also East Lothian. Further it has been approved for issue by Food Standards Scotland.
Please remember that you or your staff must never accept dirty or damaged containers and that it is not recommended that you accept these containers for ready to eat products.
In such cases a detailed policy on where the container was to be placed, additional disinfection procedure and hand washing will be required.
