James Campbell, Rutherglen -May 2016

James Campbell Butchers have traded since 1874 and are now run by the fourth and fifth generations of the family. That's what you call tradition and true family business.

The founder was the great grandfather of Jim and Ken Campbell who currently run the business.

The longevity and success of the business is attributed to its ability to change over the years opening and closing various butchers shops in locations around the City of Glasgow.

Wholesaling sausage and black pudding from premises in Govan was a mainstay for a long time, before third generation James made great success of the shop he started in Woodlands Road in 1945. Maryhill Road proved another fruitful site and it still exists along with three other modern shops in Paisley, the Savoy Centre and in the Exchange in Rutherglen.

These premises are all supported by a factory at Charing Cross.
