National Butchers Week – 4 to 10 March 2024
National Butchers Week kicks off on 4th March this year, but we're beefing about it now because it's the biggest opportunity of the year for craft butchers right across the UK to come together and raise awareness amongst the public about the fantastic, locally sourced meat available right on their doorsteps!
We'd like to encourage you to run an event during the week to promote butchery.
National Black Pudding Day 18 March 2024
National Black Pudding Day will be held on 18th March. We would encourage you take part by promoting black pudding and showcasing products you make with it within your shop and on social media.
Please use the hashtag #nationalblackpuddingday
For our part we will have a prepared press release about the day and the official search for the Scottish Black Pudding Champion will be launched. We have attached logos and slides for you to use.
Scottish Food producers receive funding to make recipes healthier
Some of Scotland's much-loved butchery and meat manufacturers have been awarded funding including Simon Howie, Macsween of Edinburgh, Malcolm Allan and Cooper Butchers. While a whole range of other popular Scottish producers from Equis ice-cream, Bon Accord Soft Drinks and Saltire Patisserie through to social enterprise Edinburgh Community Food have received support.
The announcement was made today at a reformulation and innovation for health event hosted by FDF Scotland and Interface at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.
These businesses will receive up to £5,000 to help kick start a range of projects including reducing the salt content in butchery products, decreasing fat in savoury pastries, reducing sugar in bakery products and meeting labelling and public health nutritional targets.
This fourth round of FDF Scotland's Reformul8 Challenge Fund was made possible due to funding received from Scotland Food & Drink.
