We're making good headway in preparations for the week – a survey has been done and conducted, and we'll be pulling that into usable shape in the next week or so.
Just to give you a feel – three out of 10 adults think a chicken chop is a well known cut of meat…!
Emails will be going out to schools a month before, encouraging them to get in touch with local butchers to run sausage and burger making lessons.
Butchers are registering for balloons and we've already given out 500 balloons so far, and branded aprons featuring “Ask the Butcher” are available at cost price.
A facebook page has been set up:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/National-Butchers-Week-2011/176364575736702
And a twitter account under the name NBW2011 to promote the week further.
Those of you on facebook, please support the page and invite your friends and family to do the same and spread the word. If you have things you'd like to add to the page, let me know. I can either put it up, or you can add it yourself.
If you're on Twitter, please follow the page and encourage your own followers to follow it.
Can I urge you all to communicate news of the week as widely as possible to your customers and contacts and let them know the balloons are available free to those who register and encourage them to think about the week.
And finally – let me know if you've got anything planned for the week – I'll be running a preview in the next issue of MTJ Extra, so would be good to have some news of what sponsors are up to.
I'm aiming to send members of my team out to various events and shops throughout the week – so if you're doing something and want to have one of my team along, let me know.
I've only really scratched the surface of things we're up to, but that gives you a flavour. Hopefully we can pull everything together to make this week even more successful than ever.
Regards
Ed
