New and Expectant Mothers

Some substances may pose particular risks to these women. For example, toxoplasmosis poses a particular risk during pregnancy and can be contracted through accidental ingestion when handling raw meat such as pork, lamb or venison.

Where women of child-bearing age are employed any substances that pose a particular risk should be assessed and the woman who may be at risk should be informed. The assessment should be reviewed for any woman who does become pregnant.
