At 4.00am in the morning of Sunday 15th January vandals set fire to bins outside Paul Boyle's shop. This ignited the door into his bakery causing extensive damage to the bakery area.
The front and back shop were only fire damaged but the total extent of the damage will not be known until tradesmen start restoration on Monday morning. The internal walls and ceiling in the bakery area will need renewed.
Paul was obviously upset with the damage but he was happy to report that his recently awarded MacLean Cup for the best savoury product at the 2012 Scotch Pie Club Evaluations and his certificates were all rescued!
Three youths all under the age of 16 were apprehended later that night while in the process of trying the same thing at a local golf club.
