The aim of the network is to spread the message of food and drink as a career destination of choice and to make links with young people currently in school,
university or college. Our ambassadors will be part of a 'talent bank' of industry professionals from across the food supply chain – from field to fork.
By becoming an ambassador you will:
• inspire young people in education to think about a career in the food and
drink industry
• bring the industry to life in an engaging and interactive way
• help young people understand how skills and qualifications in subjects such
as science, engineering, logistics, sales or IT link to jobs in the industry
• bust myths about what it is like to work in the industry and show how a career
in food can be rewarding, with lots of opportunities
How it works
We welcome anyone who works within the food and drink industry to join the network, everyone has something valuable to offer in sharing their personal perspective on their own career journey.
If you become an ambassador you can define the amount of time you spend on network activities, the age group you'd like to work with and the distance you are willing to travel.
Your role as an ambassador
SFDF will link food and drink ambassadors up to a need within our education network. Your real life experiences will help teachers to deliver the curriculum for excellence.
It will also enable lecturers to bring their lessons to life and careers advisors to give practical examples of how qualifications link to careers in the industry.
As an ambassador you could have the opportunity to:
• attend a careers fair
• speak to a class of school leavers about your career journey
• engage primary school children in various aspects of the curriculum by using the industry as a context for learning
• help to support university students when making decisions about their future careers
