The business began as a private company limited by shares in May 1976.
It operates as a district business entity, with some of the largest clients and users of the service are also part owners and directors of the business. It can be looked at as a collaborative venture.
The board includes, amongst others, representatives from meat processing businesses from Hugh Black & Sons, Scott Brothers and Cooper Butchers.
Gerard McCafferty has recently been appointed as General Manager bringing with him a wealth of experience within the Scottish meat industry including butchering, technical, slaughtering and management.
The core business activities are provision of the slaughtering service for local wholesalers, butchers, and private customers, and private butchery service from a private contracted butcher for customers requiring a butchery service. Also providing frozen storage of packed meat products for the customers located within the site.
The company base is largely within the Central belt of Scotland, but the company is increasingly finding new customers in other parts of Scotland.
One such growth area has been the Organic certification, allowing us to expand the slaughtering service and the new private butchery service to include meeting the Organic standards for customers of organically reared animals.
