The Scottish Retail Excellence Awards
The Scottish Retail Excellence Awards were created by the Scottish Daily Record and Scottish Business Insider, with support from the Scottish Retail Consortium, to honour the retail sector's top achievers and to recognise excellence in all areas of retail throughout Scotland.
About the Awards
This year's categories have been selected to reward the retail organisations and individuals who have shown a dynamic and innovative approach to the challenges of modern retailing in Scotland. This covers multiples and department stores as well as independent, speciality and online retailers who have been operating in Scotland for at least 18 months.
Independent/Small Multiple Retailer of the Year
On the nomination form you need to provide evidence of the following:
Reason for nomination (1000 words maximum)
Plus examples of:-
Innovation in product selection and merchandising
An understanding of the local customer base leading to exemplary customer service
Commitment to the local community

All retailers must operate in Scotland and have been trading for more than 18 months.
All categories are open to retailers in Scotland who sell goods or services that are consumed outside of their premises;
You may enter more than one of the ten categories listed but a separate submission must be completed for each category;
Suppliers to retailers may submit entries on behalf of a retailer, but must obtain prior consent.
Supporting materials e.g CD/DVD, media clippings, print items must be clearly labelled with the entrant's name and the category of entry and included in your submission package. Â We regret that supporting materials cannot be returned.

All entries and supporting materials must arrive no later than Friday 7th August 2009 at 5.00pm.
Finalists will be announced on www.scottishretailawards.com on the week ending Friday 3rd October. Â
Winners and Runners Up will be announced at the Gala Dinner on 20th October 2009.
The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
