Time off for public duties

justice of the peace
member of a local authority
member of a regional health authority
member of a water authority or river purification board
member of a governing body of an educational establishment
member of a statutory tribunal
is entitled to reasonable time off during working hours to attend meetings or carry out other duties approved by these bodies. The Act says nothing about being paid for these occasions but generally payment will be received from the body concerned.
