prevent or deter him/her from being, or seeking to become, a member of a trade union.

prevent him/her from taking part in the activities of an independent trade union at the appropriate time.

force him/her to become a member of a non-independent trade union.

enforce a requirement that if he/she fails to become or has ceased to be a trade union member, he/she must make payment to some other body, usually a charity.
