Beefburger final takes place in Dundee

The City of Discovery was chosen to find Scotland’s best beefburger.

The taste panel at the University of Abertay convened this lunchtime to decide the winner of this year’s Scottish Craft Butcher beefburger competition.

The initial entry of 66 beefburgers was whittled down at the first stage judging held at Forth Valley College in Stirling and then the best six were mystery shopped.

Mystery shopping ensures that the title goes to the best burger as bought over the butchers’ counter by customers. The final six had a West of Scotland majority but there were representatives from the Moray Firth and Tayside.

The seven judges were unanimous in their decision. The winner will be announced week beginning 16 April 2018.
